One of the function of a collection is resisting time by transforming a thing into an object and immobilising it physically and economically. However, before crossing the threshold of the collection, the thing can move through air, water, earth, from hand to hand, or through the channels of the market from the seller to the buyer. But the moment it enters a collection, it morphs into something like a fixed star in a constellation and tends to remain that as long as the collection exists. It is usually not supposed to leave the space of the collection in general, and not meant to be sold in particular. If it does leave the collection, then for a temporary period of time as a loan, and is expected to return sooner or later. In such a sense, one can also consider any exhibition as a temporary collection, a kind of flash-mob of objects. / at Gathering Being: On Collecting and Making. Una de les funcions d'una col·lecció és resistir el pas del temps transformant una cosa en un objecte i immobilitzant-lo física i econòmicament. No obstant això, abans de travessar el llindar de la col·lecció, la cosa pot moure's a través de l'aire, l'aigua, la terra, de mà en mà o pels canals del mercat des del venedor fins al comprador. Però en el moment que entra en una col·lecció, es converteix en alguna cosa semblant a una estrella fixa en una constel·lació i té la tendència a romandre així mentre la col·lecció existeixi. Normalment, no se suposa que abandoni l'espai de la col·lecció, i no està destinat a ser venut en particular. Si surt de la col·lecció, és només per un període temporal com a préstec i s'espera que torni més aviat o més tard.
