What scale does
an idea have?

In our recent conversation with Trinidad Contreras on the occasion of Solid Waves, the artist explains that she does not understand jewellery, objects and sculpture as opposing disciplines, but rather as complementary aspects of the same investigation.

This idea also reflects one of the curatorial directions Hannah Gallery has chosen to explore this year. Through Solid Waves, currently on view, and the forthcoming exhibition by Ramon Puig Cuyàs, Form Across Scales, opening this September, we are interested in considering how the physical dimensions of an artwork do not necessarily determine its conceptual scale.

A brooch, an object or a sculpture may share the same question, the same investigative process and the same artistic intensity. The value of a work lies not so much in the discipline to which it belongs, but in its ability to generate language, knowledge and experience.

In Solid Waves, Trinidad Contreras develops this exploration through fifteen works, rings, brooches and objects made primarily of porcelain, stoneware, glazes and gold, where matter itself becomes a space for transformation, perception and meaning. The exhibition remains on view at Hannah Gallery until July 3, 2026.

Quina escala
