How does matter
become memory?
This is one of the questions that seems to emerge from Solid Waves, Trinidad Contreras’ exhibition at Hannah Gallery.
Through brooches, rings and objects made primarily in porcelain and stoneware, her works appear to preserve traces of pressure, erosion and transformation, as if matter itself were capable of retaining the memory of the processes that shaped it.
As in science, philosophy or literature, artistic language also allows us to formulate questions and construct forms of knowledge. It is not merely a matter of personal taste or individual preference. When an artist masters their medium, they are able to articulate ideas, establish relationships and propose readings of the world that can be shared, discussed and examined.
In this sense, Trinidad Contreras’ work is particularly compelling. Her pieces do not simply represent forms; they pose a question and develop a response through matter itself. Porcelain, stoneware, glazes and lustres become tools for thinking about time, trace and permanence.

Aquesta és una de les preguntes que sembla plantejar Solid Waves, l'exposició de Trinidad Contreras a Hannah Gallery.
A través de fermalls, anells i objectes realitzats principalment en porcellana i gres, les seves peces semblen conservar rastres de pressió, erosió i transformació, com si la matèria fos capaç de retenir la memòria dels processos que l'han configurada.
Com passa en la ciència, la filosofia o la literatura, el llenguatge artístic també permet formular preguntes i construir formes de coneixement. No es tracta únicament d'una qüestió de preferències o sensibilitats personals. Quan un artista domina el seu llenguatge, és capaç d'articular idees, establir relacions i proposar lectures del món que poden ser compartides, discutides i contrastades.
En aquest sentit, el treball de Trinidad Contreras resulta especialment suggeridor. Les seves peces no només representen formes; plantegen una pregunta i desenvolupen una resposta a través de la matèria mateixa. La porcellana, el gres, els esmalts i els lustres es converteixen en eines per pensar sobre el temps, el rastre i la permanència.
