Beautiful City - Pink Stairs Black Crystal is one of two necklaces specially created by Annelies Planteydt for Hannah Gallery, for the exhibition To Recover, where artists were invited to reinterpret one of their works.
Whether placed, suspended, or worn, Annelies Planteydt’s pieces reveal themselves differently each time. The jewellery is not a fixed form: it reconfigures with movement, in relation to the body, and through the observer’s gaze, in the manner of a geometric abstraction in perpetual evolution. The map I think up for a piece of jewellery may seem to disappear when the jewellery is worn, but the structure remains, says the artist. What fades is the initial scheme. What endures is the internal architecture.
The piece thus becomes an open space. Unlike drawing or painting, contained by edges, once worn, experienced, or observed, the jewellery transcends boundaries. These works have neither beginning nor end. They unfold freely in space and on the body.
The repetition of geometric elements, polished or matte, coloured or raw, creates a play of metamorphoses, where each module retains its identity, while the whole continuously reinvents itself, giving rise to a richness of possible rhythms.

Beautiful City - Pink Stairs Black Crystal és un dels dos collarets creats especialment per a Hannah Gallery, per a l’exposició To Recover, en què es va convidar els artistes de la galeria a reinterpretar una de les seves pròpies obres.
Tant si es col·loquen en un espai determinat, es suspenen o es porten sobre el cos, les peces d’Annelies Planteydt es revelen de manera diferent cada vegada. La joieria no és una forma fixa: es reconfigura amb el moviment, en relació amb el cos i a través de la mirada de l’observador, a la manera d’una abstracció geomètrica en evolució perpètua. El mapa que imagino per a una peça de joieria pot semblar que desapareix quan la joia es porta posada, però l’estructura es manté, diu l’artista. El que s’esvaeix és l’esquema inicial. El que perdura és l’arquitectura interna.
La peça esdevé així un espai obert. A diferència del dibuix o la pintura, delimitats per marges, la joya, un cop portada, viscuda u observada, transcendeix les fronteres. Aquestes obres no tenen ni principi ni final. Es despleguen lliurement en l’espai i sobre el cos.
La repetició d’elements geomètrics, polits o mats, acolorits o en estat brut, crea un joc de metamorfosis en què cada mòdul conserva la seva identitat, mentre que el conjunt es reinventa contínuament, donant lloc a una riquesa de ritmes possibles.
