At first, the bowl appears almost silent. A hollow vessel with a restrained geometry. And the closer you move, the more it begins to reveal itself.
Shifting through shades of black, the iron changes with the light. The hammer marks gradually emerge, creating the rhythm across the surface. Each one records a gesture, a decision, a moment in time. Tiny perforations let the light pass through almost imperceptibly, revealing themselves only at close range. What first appears perfectly still gradually becomes the landscape of labour.
Forged from a single sheet of iron, every bowl is patiently raised by hand, blow after blow. Having been trained as a silversmith, Tore Svensson never conceals the making. Instead, the process becomes part of the work itself. Every strike contributes to the bowl's expressive language.
Since the mid-1980s, Svensson has explored the expressive potential of iron. An inexpensive material, transformed not through ornament, but through time, restraint and the discipline of making. Perhaps this is why his bowls invite contemplation. Their geometry is precise, yet the hand of the maker never disappears. The object preserves the time it took to come into being.
A primera vista, el bol sembla gairebé silenciós. Un recipient buit de geometria continguda. Però com més t'hi apropes, més comença a revelar-se.
A través dels diferents matisos del negre, el ferro es transforma amb la llum. Les marques del martell emergeixen gradualment, construint un ritme sobre la superfície. Cadascuna registra un gest, una decisió, un instant en el temps. Petites perforacions deixen passar la llum de manera gairebé imperceptible, revelant-se només a curta distància. Allò que inicialment sembla perfectament immòbil esdevé, a poc a poc, un paisatge de treball.
Forjat a partir d'una única làmina de ferro, cada bol és modelat pacientment a mà, cop rere cop. Format com a argenter, Tore Svensson no amaga mai el procés de fabricació. Al contrari, el procés esdevé part integrant de l'obra mateixa. Cada cop de martell contribueix a construir el llenguatge expressiu del bol.
Des de mitjans dels anys vuitanta, Svensson ha explorat el potencial expressiu del ferro. Un material modest, transformat no a través de l'ornament, sinó del temps, la contenció i la disciplina del fer. Potser és per això que els seus bols conviden a la contemplació. La seva geometria és precisa, però la mà de l'artista no desapareix mai. L'objecte conserva el temps que ha necessitat per arribar a existir.
