La joya en el arte contemporáneo: Klimt02 - 01 Jun 2007
Klimt02 es más que una galería de arte especializada en joyería contemporánea: es también un lugar de encuentro entre los creadores y su público, pues se estructura en torno a dos ideas. Por un lado, la comunidad virtual, que se creó en 2002 cuando Amador Bertomeu y Leo Caballero pusieron en marcha un espacio web en el que se ofrece información seleccionada con el mundo de la joyería de arte, que pronto se convirtió en un referente internacional. Por el otro, la galería de la calle Còrsega, que abrió sus puertas el pasado 31 de mayo, y que sirve para conocer in situ las propuestas más atrevidas de la joyería contemporánea. Un punto de encuentro para los coleccionistas de arte y los amantes de la joya de autor.
Klimt02 Gallery inicia su andadura con una selección de piezas de 41 artistas que son una muestra de la mejor creación artística en el ámbito de la joyería. Oro, plata, plástico, objetos reciclados, cerámica, aluminio, poliéster, seda, cristal, acero, madera, esmalte ...; Cualquier material es bueno para los artistas presentes en Klimt02 Gallery, que trabajan una joyería de conceptos contemporáneos, cuyas formas a la vez continuan y escapan a la tradición. Por ejemplo, el holandés Ted Noten crea collares con papel de oro insertado en piezas de metacrilato; el luxemburgués Claude Schmitz diseña anillos múltiples y broches con coral; la catalana Gemma Draper elabora collares con perlas, vidrio y asta de reno y el austríaco Helfried Kodré crea broches geométricos con finas láminas de oro y plata.
Klimt02 Gallery ocupa un piso de la calle Córcega, en el centro de Barcelona, y dispone de dos salas que acogen la colección permanente y las exposiciones individuales, dedicadas a mostrar con detalle la obra de un creador en particular. Espacio indispensable para quienes quieren estar a la última en el mundo de la joyería de autor: sólo allí podrán encontrarse piezas únicas elaboradas con fragmentos de un Mercedes-Benz, broches que imitan piezas de lego, corazones de aluminio rojo, collares hechos de pelo humano, cerezas de plexiglás o anillos de cobre y nuez, entre muchas y variadas propuestas.

El germen de esta galería, sin embargo, nació en Internet, en la llamada Klimt02 Community, una web creada en 2002 que hoy en día es un referente internacional para todos los entendidos en joyería contemporánea. Klimt02 Community engloba en distintos apartados toda la información relativa a esta disciplina artística: exposiciones, galerías, artículos, conferencias, entrevistas, publicaciones, museos con colección propia de joyas, escuelas, ferias, premios, workshps y cursos ...; Por supuesto tienen especial relevancia los perfiles y las obras de los artistas seleccionados por Klimt02 y que forman parte de la comunidad.

Klimt02 is more than a gallery specializing in contemporary jewellery: it is also a meeting place for creators and their public, based as it is upon two concepts. On the one hand, the virtual community created in 2002, when Amador Bertomeu and Leo Caballero set up a website offering the most comprehensive information on the world of art in jewellery, which swiftly became an international benchmark. And on the other, the gallery on Calle Còrsega that opened on 31 May, and will serve to showcase in situ the most audacious ideas in contemporary jewellery. A meeting point for art collectors and lovers of signature jewellery.
The Klimt02 Gallery is starting off with a selection of pieces from 41 artists which embody the most outstanding artistic creation in the field of jewellery. Gold, silver, plastic, recycled objects, ceramics, aluminium, polyester, silk, glass, steel, wood, enamel... every material is workable for the artists featured in the Klimt02 Gallery, who create jewellery with a contemporary concept whose shapes both perpetuate and escape from tradition and are frequently works of art in themselves. For example, Dutch artist Ted Noten creates necklaces from gold leaf inserted into pieces of methacrylate; Luxembourg creator Claude Schmitz designs multi-layered rings and brooches from coral; Catalan Gemma Draper creates necklaces from pearls, glass and reindeer horn, and Austrian Helfried Kodré conjures up geometric brooches from fine sheets of gold and silver.
The Klimt02 Gallery occupies an apartment on Calle Còrsega in the centre of Barcelona and has two rooms housing the permanent and individual exhibitions, the latter being dedicated to showcasing the work of a particular creator in detail. An essential meeting place for anyone interested in being at the cutting-edge in the world of signature jewellery: Only here will you be able to find unique pieces made from fragments of Mercedes-Benz; brooches imitating pieces of Lego; hearts in red aluminium; necklaces made from human hair; Plexiglas cherries and copper and walnut-shell rings, among a host of other different ideas.
