Mari Ishikawa & David Bielander awarded in Munich - 18 Mar 2010

We want to congratulate the artists of our gallery Mari Ishikawa and David Bielander for being awarded this year during the Schmuck at the 62nd International Trade Fair in Munich.

Jewelry series “Monophony "

The goldsmith Mari Ishikawa, born in Japan, studied at the Jewellery Class of the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich and she is now living and working here.
The inspiration for her jewelry she often gets from nature. The forms of plants and their structures are used to ornament the body and the vitality in nature, the changes between light and shadow is visible in her jewellery.


Herbert Hofmann Price 2010
Herbert Hofmann Prize 2010 was awarded at the International Trade Fair in Munich. 

David Bielander was awarded for his oversized pieces of corn. This floral decorative motif to the Basel artist with a trailer "with wit and sly humor succeed," said the jury, "the bearer of a simple joy of doing."
Wit, humor, and visible joy of doing are characteristics for the work of the Basel artist David Bielander. With his oversized pieces of corn he was awarded with the Herbert Hofmann Prize.
