LET THE STARS COME OUT: PILAR GARRIGOSA - 20 Sep 2007 - 08 Nov 2007
Klimt02 | Gallery presents in Barcelona the new works of the jeweller Pilar Garrigosa with a solo show.
When the fires and forces within our planet invade our own sphere, we usually meet with catastrophe. Only occasionally will nature allow us to experience beauty in it. This becomes possible when the power of the drama is caught in crystals or gemstones. Brought to the surface of the earth they can entrance us with their tales of events long since passed.
Pilar Garrigosa has a fascination for precious stones. It is a love affair which started in her early youth and got its fulfilment with a degree from the University of Barcelona. This background made her an expert in finding rare specimens and gave her a sharp eye for exceptional quality. She is not primarily tempted by the perfection of sparkling, water-clear stones, but rather by the ones which bear the scars and traces of their conception. Intriguing inclusions and different shades of colour give these stones their singular character, even if they are clouded or completely hiding their interior. To make all magic visible to the beholder, nearly all the pieces are cut in simple geometric shapes.

These gemstones only need a proper stage on which to tell their breathtaking stories. As Pilar Garrigosa knows how to listen, she is the perfect director to create the mise-en-scène. Just a few props are provided to support the actor: some restrained details and no interfering distractions. Every now and then she will enhance the performance by arranging a dialogue. It could lead to a discussion, but nearly always results in a duet.
So now the work is done: the jeweller has set the stage, let the stars come out.

Aquests minerals només necessiten l'escenari adequat on explicar les seves històries sorprenents.
